Benton – The city of Benton has a new interim Chief of Police after the City Council named Mike Andrews to the position at their meeting Monday night following the resignation of former chief Kyle Melvin. Andrews held the position previously, stepping down to become an investigator in February of 2016 at which point Melvin was named interim chief. Melvin had the interim title removed several weeks later and was named Chief. Melvin will be following a similar path as he will continue with the police department as an investigator.
