Williamson Co. – A Williamson Co. woman is facing charges in connection to the death of her mother in January. According to a release from Williamson Co. State’s Attorney Brandon Zanotti, Mary Clay of Hurst faces charges of involuntary manslaughter after prosecutors claimed that Clay, who was appointed as caretaker to her mother, Dorothy Mize, neglected her duties to the point of her mother’s death. The release states that factors leading to Mize’s death included malnutrition, ulcers and necrosis causing sepsis in her leg, which had to be amputated. In his statement, Zanotti went on to say that this is “the worst case of elder abuse that he has ever seen.” and that “he believes the evidence will show levels of terrible and horrendous abuse.” Clay was taken into custody yesterday and is being held on $250,000 bail.
