White Co. Sheriff’s Office Investigates Possible Attempted Child Abduction

White Co. – A report of a possible attempted child abduction was made in White County late last week. According to a report from the White Co. Sheriff’s office, they were called to a home in Enfield on Thursday morning. They then learned that two boys, aged 7-9 were approached by a red van or SUV and offered candy and a ride. The boys stated that they couldn’t take candy or rides from strangers and no attempt to force them into the vehicle was made. Deputies later found the vehicle and that four juveniles aged 14-16 were involved. The juveniles and their parents were called into the sheriff’s office. They stated that they had approached the children as a joke but now understand the seriousness of the situation and see the turmoil it has caused. No decision into whether or not charges will be filed has been made.
