A Stella Review of Slipknot In St. Louis

A Stella Review of Slipknot In St. Louis

On August 18th, Slipknot made a stop at Hollywood Casino Amphitheater  as a part of their Knotfest tour!
Joining them included Behemoth, Gojira, and Volbeat.
I was enjoying a beverage and a snack before the show, and unfortunately missed Behemoth, but enjoyed seeing Gojira for the first time, pleasantly surprised at not only the over all talent of Gojira, but how into the show the entire crowd was.
Volbeat is one of my favorites, and I have seen them before at Pop’s in Sauget, but they did not disappoint.  The lead singer could have possibly been under the weather, as I noticed he stopped to cough a couple times- but nonetheless, killer show by Volbeat, playing a lot of fan favorites like Still Counting, Lola Montez, and A Warrior’s Call.

Then it came to Slipknot. Now listen, I’ve never seen Slipknot live before. I honestly had no idea what to expect.  I admit I had no idea that there would be nine active members, totally present on stage at all times.
Literally I had no idea where to look because each member was so active, and characteristic on stage.
Yes they have the masks, so there’s not a lot of room for facial expressions- or at least you would think… but once the camera gave you a close up shot of the band members, they would do crazy stuff with their eyes… I mean, just a killer performance overall.
I was pleased that my favorites were all included on the set list- Psychosocial, Before I Forget, All Out Life, and Devil In I.
Corey Taylor, between songs just has a way getting the crowd excited for the next song… including several F bombs, but hey it did the trick.  Almost the whole crowd from all the way in the pit to even out of the lawn, remained standing for most of Slipknot’s entire set.
Drums/percussion all just so much energy and fun “stunts” while running around on the stage.
DJS- while not performing you better bet they were headbanging or moonwalking on their “treadmills”.
Guitarists- Also so much energy!
Anyway, what I’m trying to say is Slipknot is phenomenal, go see them.
And did I mention FIRE?! Yeah, there was that too. The featured photo was not taken in St. Louis, but at a previous Slipknot show,.
