One Dead Following One-Vehicle Accident in Pope Co. on Sunday

Pope Co. – An Elizabethtown man was killed in a one-vehicle crash Sunday morning in Pope County. Illinois State Police say around 10:25, 79-year-old Roger L. Lane was driving his pickup truck south on Illinois 34 north of Herod, crossed the center line, left the roadway and impacted a tree. Lane was removed from the vehicle and flown to an out of state hospital where he later died from injuries he received in the crash. He was wearing his seat belt and the air bag deployed. ISP says the cause of the crash was the medical/physical condition of the driver.
