Carbondale – Teachers in Carbondale are avoiding a strike after reaching a tentative deal with the Carbondale School District 95 School Board at a mediation meeting last night.After filing an intent to strike notice, the Carbondale Education Association would have been able to strike as early as Friday had an agreement not been reached. According to WSIL-TV, the union stated that it hopes teachers and the school board will vote to ratify the agreement soon.Details about the tentative agreement have not been released.The Carbondale Education Association includes 136 teachers, social workers, and other licensed professionals working between Parrish, Thomas and Lewis Elementary Schools, as well as Carbondale Middle School.
