West Frankfort – Two people are recovering following a house fire Saturday morning in West Frankfort. The West Frankfort Fire Department says firefighters arrived to the home on Monroe Street just after 10:30. One woman was able to get out of the home. Firefighters helped another person get out. The woman was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital. The other person was taken to Herrin Hospital, then airlifted to a hospital in St. Louis. The fire heavily damaged the home according to KFVS-TV. The Benton, Zeigler, Johnston City and Carterville Fire Departments along with Buckner Fire Rehab assisted West Frankfort firefighters at the scene.
