Juvenile Charged with Burglary, Theft After Report of Shots Fired in Benton

BENTON – A male juvenile was charged with burglary and theft, and could face additional charges pending an investigation by Benton police after officers were sent to the 1100 block of Fairland St. for a report of shots fired around 7:30 Monday morning.

According to a Benton police report, a juvenile allegedly fired a shot from a handgun when confronted by the owner of a vehicle the juvenile was actively stealing items from.

The juvenile was taken into custody and questioned, and a firearm was seized during a search of the his home. No injuries were reported.

He was lodged in the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center.
