MT. VERNON – A 29-year-old man was arrested Monday after accused of stabbing a 34-year-old Mt. Vernon man over the weekend.
Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Bullard said his office received notification from Good Samaritan Hospital just before 1 a.m. Monday regarding a stabbing victim at a hospital being treated for non-life threatening injuries. The incident occurred in 13,500 block of N. Harmony Ln. in Jefferson County. The man was later transported to a St. Louis area hospital for treatment.
After further investigation, Joshua R. Williams was taken into custody in connection with the stabbing and charged with aggravated battery. Bullard said Williams has a history of violent offenses prior to the incident Monday.
Williams remains in custody at the Jefferson County Justice Center.
