Changes are incoming for Carbondale High School, it’s feeder schools, Rend Lake College (RLC) and Southeastern Illinois College (SIC) due to COVID-19 concerns.

Carbondale High School District #165 posted via Facebook Friday a statement saying the school will not be in session March 16-20. The school’s athletics page followed suit minutes later by noting the cancellation of athletic events and practices March 13-20.

Carbondale Elementary School District #95 announced an spring break extension, as well as Unity Point CCSD #140, Giant City School District #130, and De Soto School District #85.

The cancellations follow RLC and SIC’s spring break extensions to March 22 and 23 respectively, also announced Friday. The colleges will then transition to online classes/remote delivery learning only.

On-campus events, clinics, and other related activities are canceled at both colleges as well.
