Investigation Now Underway into Jefferson Co. Road Rage Incident

MT. VERNON – Jefferson County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a possible road rage incident Monday night on Route 37 that reportedly included shots being fired.

According to a release from the police department, a 32-year-old Mt. Vernon man called 911 just before 8 p.m. Monday and reported that on his way home on Route 37 near Game Farm a vehicle came up behind him flashing its lights. The man pulled over and as the other vehicle passed, gunshots were fired.

Detectives responded to the scene and one bullet hole was found in the man’s vehicle, and another in a nearby residence. No injuries were reported.
