SOUTHERN IL – The Jackson and Jefferson County Heath Departments each released announcements Thursday of confirmed individual COVID-19 cases within their respective counties.
According to a release from the former, Jackson County’s now second confirmed case is a male in his late teens. He is “fair” and at home in isolation until well and cleared to leave. They believe he was recently exposed to the novel Coronavirus in recent travel to the Chicago area.
The latter said per a release a Texas man in his 50s was traveling in Jefferson County before becoming “very ill” and being hospitalized. He then tested positive for the virus and is in isolation at a local hospital.
Each organization is encouraging residents to adhere to Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s “stay at home” mandate, practice social distancing and follow other recommended precautions.
Additional individual cases were recently confirmed in Williamson and Franklin counties.
