Two Arrested in Connection to Carbondale Shooting

CARBONDALE – Two more people have been arrested in connection with a shooting last week in the 400 block of E. Chestnut St. in Carbondale

According to Carbondale Police, 27-year-old Deaundre R. Wimberly of Carbondale was arrested and charged Sunday with aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of weapons by a felon. Police found Wimberly in the 400 block of E. Oak St. Sunday and arrested him on a warrant obtained Monday and now lodged in the Jackson County Jail.

Police also arrested 28-year-old Josten T. Denwood of Carbondale Friday, charging him with aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful use of weapons by a felon. Denwood was found by police around four Friday afternoon in the 400 block of East Chestnut Street and arrested him on a warrant, which was also obtained Monday. He is lodged in the Jackson County Jail.

Previously, 27-year-old William J. Stewart was arrested and charged him with possession of a firearm by a felon and aggravated discharge of a firearm following the shooting and standoff with officers on E. Ashley St. last Monday. He is lodged in the Jackson County Jail.

A police investigation found a dispute amongst acquaintances in a parking lot let to gunfire, then Stewart fled into a home in the 400 block of E. Chestnut St. Police obtained a search warrant and negotiated with Stewart at the home. Police carried out the search warrant and took Stewart into custody later Monday evening.
