Three Suspects Wanted by Carbondale Police for Alleged Vehicle Theft

CARBONDALE – Carbondale Police are looking for three suspects involved in an alleged vehicle theft that happened early Tuesday morning in the 1000 block of W. Sycamore St.

According to Carbondale Police, officers responded to the scene at 3 a.m. after receiving a report regarding the theft. The victim left their unoccupied vehicle running while delivering newspapers on foot at a home. While the victim was away, two males in their early teens got in the vehicle and locked the doors. The victim tried to regain control of the vehicle and one of the suspects threatened the victim while displaying a knife.

The suspects drove away in the vehicle south on Smith St. The victim reported there was also a third suspect in the area and he fled westbound of foot on W. Sycamore St. when the vehicle left the area.

Two suspects were described as a black male with a dark complexion wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, and a black male with a light complexion wearing a gray sweatshirt. The third suspect, who fled on foot, was only described as a white male. Officers located the vehicle, unoccupied, a few hours later in the 400 block of N. Springer St. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
