Williamson County Reports Second COVID-19 Case, Three in Jackson Co.

SOUTHERN ILL. – The Franklin-Williamson Bi-County Health Department announced Wednesday a second Williamson Co. resident tested positive for COVID-19, and the Jackson County Health Department revealed three new cases. Here are the details:

Williamson: The second laboratory confirmed case, a woman in her fifties, is at home doing well. She is thought to have contracted the virus through community spread.

Jackson: The three recent cases include a male in his sixties who likely acquired the coronavirus through out-of-state travel, a female in her twenties likely from travel to the Chicago area, and a female in her nineties, who likely acquired it locally.

Healthcare officials from each department said in separate releases the cases are under investigation and individuals encountered by the individuals are being contacted.
