Carbondale Woman Faces Multiple Charges After Reckless Driving

CARBONDALE – A Carbondale woman will face several charges after officers responded to the 2400 block of W. Main St. in Carbondale Monday in reference to a report of a reckless driver who struck a street sign and continued driving eastbound.

According to a Carbondale Police report, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle and the driver refused to stop. Eventually the driver, 36-year-old Lisa N. Chumleye, struck an embankment causing the vehicle to become stuck in the 300 block of N. Wall St. Officers arrested Chumley without further incident.

During the course of the investigation, it was learned the vehicle was reported stolen in Murphysboro.

Officers charged Chumley with aggravated fleeing to elude, possession of stolen vehicle, reckless driving, disobeying traffic control device, and driving the wrong way on a one-way street. Chumley is lodged in the Jackson County Jail.
