CARBONDALE – Carbondale Police are investigating an alleged home invasion that happened early Tuesday morning.
According to a Carbondale Police report, officers responded to the 900 block of W. Sycamore St. in reference to a report of a gunshot victim around 5:15 a.m.
An investigation revealed two masked suspects entered a home displaying firearms, demanding money. In the process of the robbery, one victim was shot and another victim was battered by one of the suspects with a firearm. The suspects fled from the home on foot and have not been located.
Police described the first suspect is a 5’7″-6′ white male wearing a ball cap, frameless glasses, a dark color sweatshirt with a hood and black shoes with red or pink laces. The second suspect is a 6′-6’3″ black male wearing a white and red bandana, a dark color sweatshirt with a hood, glasses with amber color lenses, a white ball cap and dark color shoes.
The victim is being treated at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for non-life threatening injuries.
Southern Illinois University Department of Public Safety officers and the Jackson County Ambulance Service assisted during the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
