Two Injured After Two-Vehicle Crash on I-24 in Johnson County

JOHNSON CO. – A two-vehicle crash on westbound I-24 in Johnson County shortly after 9 a.m. Monday resulted in a pair of injuries.

According to Illinois State Police, 26-year-old Dylan Lammers of Vienna and 46-year-old Christina Reed of Winchester, KY were both driving west on I-24 at milepost seven when Lammers failed to realize his closing speed and struck with his Jeep the SUV Reed was driving, which was an escort unit for an oversize load.

The Jeep came to rest partially in the passing lane. Reed’s SUV rolled over and came to rest on its side off of the roadway.

Lammers was treated on scene by ambulance staff for minor injuries. An ambulance took Reed to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The roadway remained open during the crash investigation.

Lammers was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured vehicle.
