JACKSON CO. – Three people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Jackson County Sunday afternoon.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 3:40 p.m. near the intersection of Illinois 3 and Hog Hill Rd. in Rockwood.
It was determined a blue 2020 BMW SUV, driven by 57-year-old Christopher McDonald of Columbia, Illinois was traveling north on Illinois 3 approaching the intersection and while a blue 2018 Subaru, driven by a 16-year-old girl, was turning south on Illinois 3 from Hog Hill Rd.
The Subaru turned south into the southbound lane on Illinois 3 where the BMW and the Subaru collided. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage because of a crash.
An ambulance took McDonald to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The 16-year-old girl driver and her passenger, another 16-year-old girl, were flown from the scene to a St. Louis area hospital for serious injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the crash.
