Nine-Year-Old Airlifted to Hospital After Striking Vehicle on Scooter

ELDORADO – A nine-year-old boy was airlifted to an area hospital after he crashed into a car while riding his scooter Thursday night in Eldorado.

In a press release, Illinois State Police officials said the accident happened just after 6:45 p.m. Thursday at Fourth and N. Railroad St. in Eldorado.

Police said the child was traveling westbound on a bike path towards Fourth St. in the area of North Railroad St. when he continued onto the roadway, failing to yield the right of way at the posted stop sign. 31-year-old Kyle Myers of Eldorado was driving southbound on Fourth St. and the boy struck Myers’ vehicle at the intersection of Fourth and North Railroad. Two witnesses told police they observed the boy enter the roadway and strike the rear passenger side of Myer’s vehicle.

The boy is said to have non-life threatening injuries, but was airlifted to an area hospital. Myers refused medical treatment.
