Illinois Sets One-Day Testing High As 954 Cases Are Reported Sunday

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – The Illinois Department of Public Health Sunday reported 954 new positive cases of COVID-19, including 20 deaths. The state’s totals now yield 154,000 total positive cases with 7,187 deaths.

Locally, Jackson County reported seven new cases of the coronavirus Sunday. Saline County reported one new positive case, Franklin County reported two and Williamson County reported six. All are in isolation.

Illinois performed 38,894 tests Sunday, breaking the previous one-day testing high set Thursday. The state has performed more than 1.9 million tests.

The state’s seven-day positivity for cases as a percent of total tests from July 5-11 is 3.0%.
