COVID-19 Positivity Rate Rises in Illinois with 1,231 Cases Monday

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Monday announced 1,231 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 18 additional confirmed deaths.

Local case breakdown:

  • Jackson County: 13
  • Union County: 9
  • Hardin and Williamson counties: 6 each
  • Franklin County: 5
  • Johnson County: 4
  • Massac County: 3
  • Hamilton, Gallatin and Pulaski counties: 2 each
  • Saline County: one (hospitalized)
  • All cases (unless noted above) are in isolation.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 172,655 cases, including 7,416 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 30,567 specimens for a total of 2,542,134. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total test from July 20-26 is 3.8 percent.
