CAIRO – Governor J.B. Pritzker visited Cairo Tuesday afternoon, announcing $40 million in funding from Rebuild Illinois into the Cairo River Terminal Project during a public gathering within the city.
The governor noted the first four million dollars will immediately be available to the Alexander Cairo Port District to fund portions of the project, of which he said there’s a “wealth” of economic opportunity.
State officials anticipate the project to create hundreds of jobs.
