PINCKNEYVILLE – Most events tied to the 98th annual Mardi Gras celebration are Pinckneyville have been canceled, accoridng to organizers.
The Pinckneyville Chamber of Commerce announced Thursday via Facebook that due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Mardi Gras parade, vendor fair, car show and business trick or treating were canceled. The Mardi Gras pageant and 50/50 drawing will continue and organizers will announce more news on their Facebook page in the coming days.
Organizers stated that the decision “was difficult, but (that) the health and safety of the community is their top priority.”
