CARTERVILLE – Officials at John A. Logan College in Carterville said due to smoke damage done to parts of the campus from last week’s electrical system failure, the campus will be closed this week and instruction and advisement will continue remotely at least through Friday.
According to a post on the college’s Facebook page, registration and online instruction remain uninterrupted despite some operational changes. Some office areas will remain closed with employees working remotely due to smoke damage and odors associated with an electrical fire.
Students are asked to contact their instructors by email with questions or concerns as advisement has been extended through 4 p.m.
The college said they’re working with their bookstore vendor, Follett, to assist students with getting books and other supplies needed for the semester. Students that have ordered books or need to order books will be able to pick those books up at the Follett location at SIU. Officials noted with some students unable to pick books up in Carbondale, the college will pay any shipping cost.
