Williamson County Reports 27 COVID-19 Cases, One Death

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Thursday announced 1,707 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 24 additional confirmed deaths.

Local case breakdown:

  • Williamson County: 27, one additional death
  • Jackson County: 12
  • Franklin County: nine
  • Union County: eight
  • Johnson County: seven
  • Perry County: six
  • Pulaski County: three
  • Alexander, Saline and White counties: two each
  • Massac County: one
  • All cases are in isolation.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 227,334 cases, including 7,977 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total tests from Aug. 20-26 is 4.1 percent.
