MT. VERNON – Two semis were involved in a crash on I-57 in Jefferson County Thursday morning.
According to Illinois State Police, a White 2020 Freightliner semi with trailer, driven by a 58-year-old man from Missouri, was rear-ended by a Red 2016 Freightliner semi with trailer, driven by a 30-year-old man from Quebec, Canada, on the southbound side of I-57 at milepost 102
The Missouri man’s semi came to stop in traffic due to an incoming construction zone ahead.
The Quebec driver was airlifted to a regional hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The Missouri driver and his passenger refused medical attention.
