Local 4-H Sets Sights on STEM Offering Via Online Program

MT. VERNON – Area 4-H clubs are celebrating National 4-H Week with online festivities this week. Kyle Miles, 4-H Youth Development Educator at University of Illinois Extension, said there’s a common misconception for some when it comes to 4-H.

The extension, serving Bond, Clinton, Jefferson, Marion, and Washington counties, looks to set the stage for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) offerings well into the future. Miles said he considers any opportunity to identify a problem, propose a solution, try it, troubleshoot, make necessary changes, and take action again as a STEM project opportunity.

Parents and students interested in learning more about 4-H are invited to attend “Zoom into 4-H,” an online, open-house-style program designed to celebrate the achievements of current 4-H members and encourage new members to become involved. The event is free to attend, but registration is required in order to receive log-in details.
