SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Wednesday reported 2,862 new confirmed cases of COVID-19) in Illinois, including 49 additional confirmed deaths.
Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 327,605 cases, including 9,074 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. Williamson and Jackson counties led the region in new confirmed cases.
Local case breakdown:
- Williamson County: 25
- Jackson County: 20
- Franklin County: 15, one death at a long-term care facility in Williamson County
- Union County: 14
- Hamilton County: eight
- Perry County: seven
- Jefferson, Gallatin and Johnson counties: six each
- Saline County: four, one death
- Pulaski County: four
- White Count: three
- Alexander, Hardin and Massac counties: one each
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate regarding total tests from Oct. 7-13 is 4.6 percent.
