Williamson County Passes 1,700 COVID-19 Cases Since Pandemic Start

SOUTHERN ILLINOIS – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Sunday reported 4,245 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 22 additional deaths.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 344,048 cases including 9,214 deaths in 102 counties. Williamson County surpassed 1,700 cases since the pandemic’s beginning, leading area area counties in new cases Sunday.

Local case breakdown:

  • Williamson County: 27
  • Franklin County: 25
  • Jackson County: 13
  • Saline County: six
  • White County: five

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate regarding total tests from Oct. 11-17 is 5.3 percent.
