SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Wednesday reported 6,110 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 51 additional deaths. Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 389,095 cases, including 9,619 deaths, in 102 counties statewide.
According to a Facebook post from Southern Illinois Healthcare, COVID-19 hospitalizations have risen with cases throughout the region, largely stemming from the community.

- Jefferson County: 11

- Hamilton County: six

- Gallatin and Massac counties: two each
- Hardin County: one
The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity rate for cases as a percent of total tests from Oct. 21-27 is 6.7 percent.
