Dozens of New COVID-19 Cases Reported Across Southern Illinois

SPRINGFIELD – State health officials Wednesday reported 7,538 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, including 55 additional deaths. Dozens were reported from health departments throughout southern Illinois.

A total of 437,556 cases, including 9,933 deaths, have been reported in Illinois since the pandemic began.

Local case breakdown:

  • Perry County: 41 (since Sunday)
  • Williamson County: 28, one death
  • Jackson County: 23, one death
  • Jefferson County: 18
  • Saline County: 16
  • Franklin County: 10
  • Hamilton County: nine
  • White County: six
  • Gallatin County: two

The Southern Seven Health Department reported 43 new cases on its Facebook page Wednesday (including data from Tuesday and the latter):

  • Union County: 13
  • Johnson County: 12
  • Massac County: six
  • Pulaski County: five
  • Hardin County: three
  • Alexander and Pope counties: two

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases as a percent of total tests from Oct. 28–Nov. 3 is 8.5 percent. This is the number that state health officials have been consistently reporting in its daily releases and is calculated using total cases over total tests.
