Illinois Secretary of State’s Office Hopes for Increase in Online Service Use

SPRINGFIELD – Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White announced Nov. 13 Driver Services facilities statewide will be closed to the public for in-person transactions due to the worsening COVID-19 pandemic. The facilities will reopen on Monday, Dec. 7.

Henry Haupt, Deputy Press Secretary with the Secretary of State’s office, said using online services has doubled amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the office hopes to see the number continue to grow. He added he expects in doing so, it should help the overload of people coming back into facilities once they reopen.

White noted that across the state, 19 CDL (Commercial Driver License) facilities will remain open for written and road exams and seven facilities are offering drive-through services for license plate sticker transactions only.
