MT. VERNON – Multiple people were arrested early Wednesday morning after the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Office High-Risk Team executed two narcotics search warrants in Mt. Vernon.
According to the Mt. Vernon Police Department, after both residences were secured, the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO)/Southern Illinois Drug Task Force Narcotics Unit searched each home and conducted narcotics investigations.
At 232 Opdyke, a quantity of methamphetamine, a large amount of illegal cannabis for distribution, drug paraphernalia, and a large amount of currency was located.
At that location, police arrested 45-year-old Roy Kimber of Mt. Vernon for alleged possession of less than 5 grams methamphetamine, possession of between 500 grams to 2000 grams of cannabis with intent to deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Also arrested was 46-year-old Tesha Howard of Mt. Vernon for alleged possession of less than 5 grams of methamphetamine, possession of between 500 grams to 2000 grams of cannabis with intent to deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 105 E. Opdyke, a quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was located and police arrested 56-year-old John Phillips of Mt. Vernon for alleged possession of less than 5 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Also arrested was 34-year-old Lindsey Bradford of Mt. Vernon for alleged possession of less than 5 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and on an outstanding no bond Jefferson County warrant for failure to appear on a petition to revoke probation for a previous possession of methamphetamine conviction.
Lastly, 21-year-old Brynt Long of Mt. Vernon was arrested at the second location for alleged possession of less than 5 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He was additionally charged with domestic battery in reference to an investigation by JCSO.
All five subjects were taken to the Jefferson County Jail to await the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.
