MCLEANSBORO – Monday is the 200th anniversary of the founding of Hamilton County, created on February 8, 1821 out of White County and named for Alexander Hamilton, Revolutionary War hero and the first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury.
To mark the occasion, Andy Rubenacker, with Hamilton County Bicentennial 2021, said Thursday a ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at the courthouse in McLeansboro.
Rubenacker said the event will be shown live on the Hamilton County Bicentennial 2021 Facebook page, but anyone is welcome to come to the event in person.
Hamilton County Bicentennial 2021 is working on events to be held throughout this year to commemorate the county’s founding. Rubenacker noted information about these events will be posted on the Hamilton County Bicentennial 2021 Facebook page and on the county’s website.
