COVID-19 Cases Total 56, One Death Reported in Southern Illinois

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health Tuesday reported 1,665 new COVID-19 cases in Illinois, including 27 additional deaths. Southern Illinois health departments reported 56 new cases of the novel coronavirus across the region.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 1,177,320 cases, including 20,330 deaths.

Local case breakdown:

  • Jackson County: 10
  • Jefferson County: seven
  • Williamson and Saline counties: six each
  • Perry County: five, one death
  • Johnson County: four
  • White, Union and Franklin counties: three each
  • Hamilton, Alexander, Hardin and Massac counties: two each
  • Gallatin County: one

The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from Feb. 16–22 is 3%.

A total of doses of 2,307,685 vaccine have been delivered to providers in Illinois, including Chicago. In addition, approximately 445,200 doses total have been allocated to the federal government’s Pharmacy Partnership Program for long-term care facilities, bringing the total Illinois doses to 2,752,885.

Additionally, a total of 2,254,982 vaccines have been administered so far in Illinois, including 291,269 for long-term care facilities. The 7-day rolling average of vaccines administered daily is 55,917 doses. On Monday, 43,282 doses were administered in Illinois.
